YouLeadProject - Contribute to the future you desire

YouLead is out to empower the future of our nation by creating a platform that allows you contribute in any form; be it be contributing just #200 to getting a book for a child, or be volunteering for her next event or by being a facilitator at the event that is to hold in Benin on the 13th of July.

Passivity of your existence

Do you really believe in whom you say you believe?
Do you really love the ones you say you love?
Do you really want the things you fight for?
Do you really mean the things you say to friends?
Do you really fear to fail a course?
Do you really care when you say you do?

Dating for dummies

If you are a young lad and are in a time in your life when it feels like the right time to get 'hooked' as many would call it, then you should consider these things I am going to say in few words.

What are they saying?

Dating has been given a lot of definitions both by experts and dummies like yourself. Some have said it is a period where you get to know the one with whom you have decided to get hitched. Others consider it as the 'going-to-the-restaurant' season of the relationship, where you talk about random stuffs. They believe it is in this time the guy sees if the girl is able to use the cutleries, vis a vis. These are the usual responses you get from friends and people who care to give their opinion. For all kinds of definitions, the purpose for dating has been to see if the person is a suitable partner for a romantic relationship leading to marriage.

Why all the name calling?

By 'dummies' I do not intend it for an insult of any sort. It is just a term used these days to show one who is stepping into a phase or knowledge they don't have prior understanding of. You and I may have taken a couple of words out of context. It is okay. But let's start using the dictionary to know the meaning of words for what they represent and not for what society has made them. Just like dating doesn't translate "being in a relationship," we should know that the word "dummy" doesn't mean an insult.
This is who you are, at least, until you finish reading this article. Moreover, I am not the first person to call you this.
Joy Browne, the author of Dating for Dummies, found the word a suitable one for people who are looking to step into the dating arena for the first time. She believes that dating doesn't have to be "nerve-wracking," but one has to be equipped with the right information while stepping into it.

Why do we bother?

Dating is important because no one intends to jump into a river without first considering whether or not there are predators. It is always important that you look before you leap. You should enquire about your prospective partner and get to know if you can deal with their baggage.
According to Joy Browne "You must do some up-front soul searching to make sure you’re ready to be honest, open, and attentive. You need a strong sense of your dating expectations so you can clearly communicate what you’re looking for without setting the bar so high that no one can clear it. You must be cautious about how and where you meet potential dates, especially if you’re looking online. And you should remember that a date is just a date — and it can actually be fun! Whether your long-term goal is to get married and start a family or to set sail around the world in a sailboat built for two, you start in the same place: on a first date."

Love at first sight?

There is no such thing as love at first sight. There are people you have met, and at first sight, you are attracted to them; that isn't love. "Na when dem show you their true colour na that time we go know whether na love or na infatuation." That came out fine right?
Do not be deceived, it is always wise to speak with those you perceive as knowledgeable in this dating thing before you jump at it. And also, be wise not to base your expectations on the experiences of others. Remember the words of Joy Browne:"Remember that a date is just a date, and it can be fun."

Fairytales are for fairies

a shot from one of my fav movies

Fairytales are for fairies. Yes! These stories are told to water the buds of young girls, aren't they? If you did English in school you can tell from the name: fairytales, just like Nigeriantales, Africantales...

I know you too want one of those fairytale love. Where we hear too much details of how prince charming woos Cinderella and soon she falls "head over heels" for him. If you were critical like I can be, you will think she is the 21st century slay queen, wearing sneakers, only that this slay queen isn't tripping head over heels for the 'prince charming. She simply falls because she didn't tie her shoe lace well.

Bimbe!

Bimpe! Mum called out as she half carried and dragged Michael to the front door. Bimpe! She screamed again still no reply. What was she to do? Her only son was dying and her daughter was too obsessed with her grieving to help. Tola could hear the loud music coming from her daughters room, so she knew it was useless to try and shout any more. She had to find a way to get Michael to a doctor and fast. Life had gotten so hard in six months than it had been her entire life

"Love is an excuse to..."

"Love is an excuse to go on with life."

When you love with reckless abandone, you sometimes forget that time is slowly passing away. You sometimes feel there is no much time to do all the things you dreamt as a child. So you soon begin to try out all that you were told by your adult friends.

If you have suffered a heart break before, then you know what this lady meant by "love is an excuse to go on with life."

DEAR JEMIMAH

I have found a dream that has become my reality. I thought you would be that person that would make the pieces fit rightly together. But you never did try. You loved me to the extent your ego permitted. You never truly give every bit of your heart. You have a way of keeping the part that helps you breathe the breath of resentment and malice.

I  am not entirely correct. You weren't really meant for me, but I couldn't let the idea of letting you go find a place in my heart. I wanted you at the cost of our lives.

They may say no one ever can tell the cause of a broken home, but here is a clue for them : That she broke your heart may not be her fault. It doesn't make her the bad person. Sometimes, it takes a broken heart to bring one to a point where one realizes that one was never compatible with the other.

The other person may not be entirely wrong. They may happen on you as a 'right person for the wrong person.'

So when they say NO to you. Let it go. You will find a resounding YES soonest!

|PHOTOS| kissing kids on the lips is 'too sexual'

A few weeks ago, a child psychologist from Californian university UCLA, Dr Charlotte Reznick, said kissing children on the lips was too 'sexual' and asked parents to stop it as it is confusing for young children. Australian mothers have slammed the claim, saying 'it's perfectly natural and loving.' They further protested by sharing photos online of them kissing their children on the lips. Etcetera Writes ''Dear Nigerian Women..Why Men Cheat''

When you heard the news that Toke Makinwa’s husband impregnated his girlfriend, you all took to social media to rain insults on Nigerian men. Why men cheat on women they love became a topic for all female radio presenters in the country. Aren’t you all tired of asking the same question over and over as if it is some perplexing unfathomable mystery?

Your question is rhetorical, but since it keeps coming up again and again, let me provide some explanations to help you understand the reasons. I will simply tell it like it is, with no bull, tact, or political correctness. It’s just that oftentimes; women do not accept the explanations. But in fact, one can understand it through common sense. Sometimes a man would cheat on his wife or girlfriend because he doesn’t love her anymore; he is bored with her, or even possibly unhappy with their relationship.

In such scenarios, even women can

#BringBackOurGirls? So that we can what? #DiaryOfTheHostage

#BringBackOurGirls

As the battle continues for the return of our beloved Nigerians, we should stop to think about a few things. We might end of fighting for these girls' return and at the end of the day, after they've been brought back, we would be surprised that we haven't prepared a heart to love them the same way we did before. While thinking on this, here is something for you!

Someone promised to #BringBackOurGirls once he becomes #President. I hope he never fails. If they eventually return, how would we treat them??? We hope that when they return, we wouldn't treat them any different. We pray that when they return, they won't wish they hadn't. We pray that they won't suffer stigmatization.
We hope that when they return, we wouldn't #blame their for existence.

Pregnant Karen Igho pens letter to her unborn child

Pregnant BBA celebrity Karen Igho, who showed off her baby bump shared this emotional letter to her unborn child.

Enjoy!
"A Love Letter To My Unborn Child I write this letter to my unborn child from the depths of my soul. You've entered my womb and made my life complete and whole. I never thought I would be chosen for such an awesome task. It is a greater blessing than what I ever could ask. I can almost imagine you in my mind. Beautiful, Happy, Bouncing, flashing a smile so kind. Feeling you flutter is a sensation like no other. It does wonders for the joy of this soon-to-be-mother! You create a glow in me I never knew I would see. It is true happiness that sets me on cloud nine manifested deep inside of me! You're my baby, my child, my heart, and my wonder. I pray we create a bond that no one can put asunder. You're a designer's original! A creation from the King! I can hardly wait for you to enter the world and see the joy you bring".

A Love Letter - Harsh Reality

Dearest,

Our days together have faded into night and from those nights come memories of passion, love, and romance. An imperfect blend, for we are imperfect creatures, yet within our mistakes we have found a golden path to happiness. Who can say how many more days are left in the saga that is our life together. What adventures shall we see tomorrow, with you the world is open and the possibilities are immeasurable. I find comfort in your company; the touch of your hand solidifies my resolve and inspires me to walk taller. I would always strive to not only provide you everything you should ever want, but to also anticipate and hope to provide even that which you do not need yet.
We balance each other, even when it feels like we are against each other. United though we are, we are still separate entities. Your goals and passions are your own, I do not enter your world unless invited, and so is the line in the sand the same for your toes as well. I enjoy our union, but I also appreciate the way in which we allow each other to breath. It has always been a struggle of mine to feel as if the oxygen were being sucked out of the room by someone else. You do not get this feeling as much when you are truly in love.
