Boko Haram sends threat mail to ThisDay Editor
A features editor with Thisday newspapers, Adeola Akinremi
reportedly received a threat mail from members of the insurgency group,
Boko Haram over his anti-Boko Haram articles. Akinremi received the
threat mail in May after his visit to Adamawa state to

Displaced Persons and the activities of the sect in the state.
Akinremi afterwards wrote a piece titled, Why Boko Haram don’t
deserve our amnesty?.
Nigerians wanted change, they must live with the consequences - FFK
Anyone that honestly believed that a man who secretly shares the same vision and core principles of Boko Haram and who spent many years defending them can do anything but give them a free hand when he comes to power is living in cuckoo land.
I am not surprised by all the recent bombings and killings. I am not surprised by the resurgence of BH and their new found barbarity, courage and zeal. Military checkpoints have been removed from our roads so what do you expect?

We may negotiate with Boko Haram - Buhari
The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and
Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Friday, disclosed in an interview with the BBC, that the
Federal Government has said that it is open to negotiations with the
Boko Haram sect in order to find a lasting solution to the security
crisis in the country, if the group is willing.
In the interview, Adesina said the Federal Government was not ruling out
negotiations with the sect if it would put an end to the activities of
the group, stating that the insurgents had attacked so many villages and
killed scores of people.
When BBC asked if the Federal Government was considering negotiations with the insurgent group, Adesina said:
“If they are willing, why not? You know attempts have been made for negotiations in the past and they didn’t work. Every reasonable person would want to see the end to this insurgency. So if they are willing, why not? You can’t rule that out.”

“These were very vicious attacks. People were killed in scores and it’s so sad,” he said.
The President had during his inauguration speech said he had launched a
strategy to deal with the sect by relocating the military headquarters
to Maiduguri, Borno State.
When asked if this would work, Adesina replied:
“This is going to work. There are machineries being put in place. It’s going to work. The recent killings by the sect were meant to break our resolve, to weaken it, but that will stop. It remains a priority to him (Buhari) to deal with the group.
“You will notice that his first two weeks of administration were dedicated to tackling the insurgency. He visited Chad and Niger Republics and the following week, the Presidents of those countries also visited him in Abuja.
“The President of Benin Republic and the Defence Minister of Cameroon visited him; machinery is being put in place and once we’re through, we will see the end of the group. The target time for the deployment of the multinational force is July ending; that is in a couple of weeks.”
Buhari Is Already Confused – Etcetera
Mr. President |
Controversial writer Etcetera, in his new article criticizes the new President of Nigeria Muhammed Buhari saying, he is already overwhelmed and confused like what we’ve had in the past.
Read his Article below…..
If there is any group of individuals who can manufacture shock, political punditry out of nothing, it is the All Progressives Congress. They cried out that Jonathan was doing a terrible job as President of Nigeria. They said his inability to run the Federal Government is the reason our country has lapsed into wholesale chaos.
He is the reason corruption decimated our population, turned brother against brother. He is the reason our military became weak and our borders constantly breached by Niger, Chad and Cameroonian gendarmes. He is the reason our cities have all lost power and we have reclined back into the dark ages. He is the reason why thousands of wild dogs/Boko Haram roam our streets and rip our children apart. With democracy being an institution where we worry about how many people ‘agree’ about certain things, APC must be concerned that Nigerians are actually seeing that Buhari is not the messiah we need.
When I wrote that Nigerians shouldn’t celebrate Buhari yet, a lot of his sympathizers reached for my scalp with all types of derogatory vocabularies. Now, just a couple of days into his regime and even before the flag is hoisted up the pole, the same people have started singing the same old song that he is too slow. Just like in the time of Jonathan. Why am I not surprised? When I talked about Buhari’s age, they said presiding over the affairs of a country is different from being a bricklayer. Why is Buhari now wishing he was younger? What has “changed” him? Didn’t he know his age before “borrowing” money to acquire the form to contest for president?
Listening to APC and President Buhari’s excuses of just being in government for only few weeks is like watching a doctor on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ pounding on a patient’s chest until another doctor has to pull him off and say, ‘Sir it’s over!’ That’s what I want to say to President Buhari. Sir, it’s over! We are tired of having president with excuses. You didn’t give us these excuses in any of your campaign speeches. Nigerians, it’s time to move on! There will be other disasters. There will always be presidents with excuses.
